Halloween Necklaces

These necklaces are a departure from the beachy jewelry I usually create.  I  decided to create Halloween inspired necklaces because it's hard to find All Hallow's Eve jewelry that isn't too cute or too gory.  I think these necklaces are in the cool middle with their vintage images and pops of color.

A little bit about how they are created....... each image has been created using a real black and white or sepia vintage photograph of a person/children from the 1880s to the 1930s.  The photos are scanned, cleaned up and colorized using Photoshop, they are then layered with other vintage elements and words  along with drop shadow to give them depth.  The base of the pendant is a vintage yardstick (you can see the numbers on the back) which has been cut, sanded, painted and sanded to distress the edges.  The tiny work of art is then printed out and fixed to the piece of yardstick and coated with a clear shiny resin to protect it forever....and ever.  A hole is drilled in the top of the pendant after the resin has cured for 24 hours then a necklace is beaded using various sizes of glass beads and finally it's done.  Whew!

This necklace is 17 inches long created with #6 black seed beads and #11 bronze Japanese seed beads as accents.  The pendant measures 1inch wide by 1.5 inches long and is sealed with shiny resin.

This necklaces is 18 inches long and created from hematite colored #6 seed beads with a picture frame toggle closure.  The orange leather heart is approximately 1.75 inches long.  The little trick or treater is on a Scrabble Tile and sealed shiny resin.

This necklace measures 16 inches long, created with tiny #11 seed beads in matt green, opaque orange and white.  A glass pumpkin bead dangles from the bottom of the 1 inch by 1 inch pendant.

This 18 inch necklace has been created with black and orange #6 seed beads.  The British Union Jack in Halloween colors measures 1 inch wide by 1.5 inches long with an orange glass dangle bead.

 This 2 inch long oak leaf has been created from a piece of garment leather, painted with a wonderful lustrous bronzy-gold color and then over stamped with the names of trees.  A cluster of chips in autumn hues dangle in front.  More dainty chips hang from the chain.  The necklace measures approximately 17.5 inches long.  This would look fantastic on with a black turtle neck!

 The industrial feel of the patinated box chain pairs will with the rich deep red of the leather leaf in this necklace.  A cluster of luster class beads dangle in a layer in front of it.  The leaf is 2 inches long and the chain is approximately 17 inches long.

When was the last time you saw a crow wearing a top hat and spats?  An 18 inch long gun metal chain suspends this one of a kind 2 inch long crow pendant. The pendant as been sealed with shiny resin.  A hand stamped metal tag says "caw".  This one is a real conversation starter!

 A snapshot of Paris has been captured in collage form on the front of this one of a kind 2 by 2.5 inch pendant.  It is sealed with shiny resin and hangs from an 18.5 inch chain with bronze, teal and chocolate brown glass bead danglies half way up the chain on both sides.

 This 17 inch long necklace is visually interesting with its mixture of different metals and chain styles making it versatile to mix with other metals and wear with just about anything. The 1.5 inch long metal cross has been wire wrapped with polished rock chips in the colors of sand, moss green, eggplant and burnt orange.

 He knew he'd write the next great American novel, he just didn't know when.  This one of a kind necklace has been created with an original 2 inch long digital collage sealed under resin.  Dangling below is a melange of 2 iridescent beads and an actual ink pen nib.  The top of the pendant is a filigree metal with a 17 inch long chain of iridescent round and triangular beads.

Dangling hand stamped bamboo beads are suspended between quirky vintage Parisian charms in this fun 17 inch long beaded ball necklace.  It would look great with a white T-shirt or on an all black outfit for a more dramatic effect!

They invented so many things but their love machine was their best invention ever!  This very unique pendant is made out of a keyhole cut into leather which has been hand stamped with vintage writing.  The image of the little boys inside is actually a small collage in which resin has been poured into the keyhole.  A little orange glass bead is suspended inside of a metal gear.  The handmade fabric necklace measures 18 inches long and closes with a lobster claw clasp.

Beach-dazed.  That pretty much describes this charming necklace.  Three stands of pale blue and white seed beads dangle along with a natural pure white shell and handstamped metal charm on an 18 inch fabric cord of pale blue and white.

 If you know somebody who owns at least 5 watering cans then you need to get them this necklace because they are most likely a hard-core gardener!  This pendant measures 1.2 inches wide and 2 inches long.  It is a handmade original collage sealed under clear glossy resin.  A pale pink and clear Swarovski crystals dangle from the top of it.  The double cord necklace measures 19 inches long.
